Saddle Shoulder Aran Cardigan

Hi there! Elli here. I’m hopping on the Zimmermania train partway into a project as I’ve been chugging away on the Saddle Shoulder Aran Cardigan from WG#63 since mid-August. I'm using the suggested Canadian Regal from SHP for this project...it's pretty rustic and scratchy, but otherwise I'm really enjoying this knit. Any suggestions for wool-washes or yarn softening tricks would be welcome.

I’ve also set my heart on an over-the-knee version of the aran form-fitted-arch stockings from Woolgathering #55. Does anyone else have plans to make these?

I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

  • I was thinking of doing the knee-highs Meg offered in the latest Vogue Knitting - these others are lovely, too. (And what a cutie they found to model that cardigan!)

  • You are kicking all kinds of ass on that sweater, Elli! It's really beautiful.

Have you washed a swatch? Sometimes those harsh yarns soften up a whole lot without any fuss.

The stockings are gorgeous. Make some so I can see!

  • I'm up for knee-highs as well. And that's Meg's son Cully modeling with his wife Michelle on that WG. Their son Eli is modeling Meg's Norwegian Cardigan on the most recent WG #75, inspired by a sweater drawn by Jan Brett in her children's book "Christmas Trolls." There is a charming story behind Eli's sweater--you'll have to read Meg's piece in that WG.

BTW, if you are interested in making Meg's Arch-Shaped Stockings from the Fall '06 VK pattern, be sure to see the corrections page on Schoolhouse's website.
