Tomten Fun!

A finished Tomten for my sweet little girl, who has just turned 16 months old. It was so fun to make that I have begun another, what I am calling the Teeny-Tiny Tomten, for her little sister, who is due to be born in January! Check out the progress of this Tomten (and the Teeny-Tiny) on my blog, Such Small Hands.

  • Just precious. I enjoyed peeking on your blog as well. Many sweet posts of your darling Bunny. I look forward to seeing the tiny Tomten.

  • This is a beautiful sweater. What kind of yarn did you use for it?

  • What a darling coat! The photo made me exclaim outloud. I want to make one of these once I am done with the saddle shoulder sweater I'm working on. Marty

  • Are the tomten sweaters child-size only? I want one! It's so cute! Then again, I could probably fit into a large children's size sweater...what's the scoop on this pattern?

  • That's just adorable. Did you do the short-rows on the back? I started making mine and forgot to do that...

  • Soooo cute! Your daughter is an absolute doll, and the Tomten suits her perfectly. Beautiful work on both counts, mamma!

  • First, thanks for all the nice words!

Just a few answers to questions- I used Encore washable wool, which is worsted weight, and size 8 needles, and it produced this jacket. Different size needles/yarn would make a different sized jacket, so you could really make one in any size!!! I used the pattern in Opinionated Knitter, although I think it's also included in Knitting Without Tears.

    Knit on! :)
