Shawl Anyone???

"Try a Shawl" is the recommendation for July in KA.
I have taken this to heart and for the last two years have knitted up a shawl each july. Naturally I have been scheeming on the next one and have yarn and pattern in mind. So I am wondering if anyone is interested in joining a KAL of sorts.

Oh, and Jared, that Feburary baby sweater is wonderful.

  • I was going to to the Pi shawl knitalong with the EZasPi yahoo group but I haven't found the time to get started yet. I would really like to try this circular shawl. Do you usually use the lace motifs that EZ suggests or others? We have a long car trip coming up in early July so I might find some knitting time then.

  • I'll have to think about a KAL, and see if I'd really have time to work on one now (July). But I'd like to. Before that, does anyone know how to do the "Circle Beginning" in OK to start the shawl? Maybe we are doing it right, and it is just difficult to start it, as EZ warns. But. I couldn't see how to get the loops to stay on the crochet needle, or even how to just put them on after doing the crochet loops. Anyone know how to explain this, or know of a youtube or something???? Thanks. A shawl would be a first for me.

  • I'm currently doing my first shawl, based on the basics from EZ. I would love to KAL, as I think this may be the start of an addiction to rival socks!

  • I'm attempting a Stonington Shawl (from Knitting Workshop) and would be glad to KAL with somebody.

  • wumeThere is a really good photo tutorial here for Emily Ocker's circular cast on:

I would suggest you try it with a worsted weight yarn first to practice it before trying to do it with lace weight.

  • Just thought I'd share that there is a new group working through EZ's Knitter's Almanac. Starting with the July Pi Shawl.
